What South Jutlandic Can Be Used For

About

Storytelling event with songs and piano music in Sønderjysk dialect. 3 November 2026 from 19:00 to 21:00 in Foreningshuset – Sønderborg Kaserne, Gerlachsgade 5, Sønderborg. Buy tickets in advance. 125,00 kr.

About the lecturer

Asta tells everyday stories, old and new rhymes and tongue-twisters as well as fairy tales by H.C. Andersen, rewritten in Sønderjysk. She plays the piano and leads the communal singing.

Background

Asta comes from Sundeved, and some words can sound different depending on where in Sønderjylland you come from. That’s precisely what makes the encounter with the dialect an authentic experience and a story about Sønderjysk culture, language and local traditions.

Why take part?

This event is for anyone who wants to experience the Sønderjysk dialect and hear stories told with warmth, humour and presence. Children, young people, adults and grandparents can join in – even if you don’t speak Sønderjysk yourself.
