About the lecturer
Kaja Lenz, aged 62, has worked with ceramics for almost four years. Her greatest passion is wheel-throwing, and she enjoys both the craftsmanship process and the creative challenges at the pottery wheel. She is motivated to constantly develop her techniques and explore new shapes and expressions in clay. She has nearly 20 years of experience as a high school teacher and adapts her teaching to each student’s level and needs. She focuses on giving participants a solid foundation in wheel-throwing techniques.
Background
The course challenges experienced throwers to work on a larger scale and learn techniques for larger ceramic pieces such as bowls, vases, jars and other spacious forms. Teaching alternates between demonstrations and individual guidance. Among other things, the course covers centring larger amounts of clay, pulling up high walls, shaping large pieces with a harmonious expression, stability and shape control, building high and spacious forms, and trimming and finishing larger pieces. Clay is not included in the price; stoneware clay costs 75 kr. per kg and porcelain clay 95 kr. per kg.
Why take part?
This course is for you if you have experience with wheel-throwing, can centre and throw smaller pieces independently, and want to work on a larger scale and develop your technique.
