Baggrund

The reunion in 1920 was not only a political and historical turning point – it also had great significance for cultural life in Sønderjylland. The lecture looks more closely at how new cultural trends, institutions and collaborations created the basis for a rich artistic life in the region. Sønderjylland has through the ages been home to a long series of prominent artists. At the same time, artistic communities and associations have played an important role in the development of the area's art life. The lecture focuses on the visionaries, exhibitions and initiatives that over the years have created the framework for art in Sønderjylland. It also discusses the importance of art for regional identity and its role in modern Sønderjylland.
